A peak is the sharp, pointed top of a mountain. The story uses this very word: from the hilltop, Minam “could see the huge peaks of the Himalayas shining in the sun”.

The Himalayas are the tallest mountain range in the world. Minam’s village lies “at the foot of the mighty Himalayas”.
This is the longest word in the puzzle. It runs all the way down the middle of the grid and crosses three other words: the H is shared with SHERPA, the L with VALLEY, and the Y with JOURNEY.
