B. Draw two national symbols (e.g., national flag, national bird) and write a few sentences about each. Draw them in the two boxes and write your sentences on the lines below.

Pick any two national symbols. Draw one in each box, then write three or four short sentences about each on the lines below. Here are the two easiest ones to draw.
1. The National Flag
A simple drawing of the National Flag of India: three bands and the Ashoka Chakra in the middle.
Model answer: This is our National Flag. It has three colours — saffron on top, white in the middle and green at the bottom. In the middle of the white band there is a navy blue wheel called the Ashoka Chakra. It has 24 spokes. We hoist the flag on Republic Day and Independence Day.
How to draw it neatly:
Draw a rectangle. Divide it into three equal bands with a ruler.
Colour the top band saffron, leave the middle white, colour the bottom green.
Draw a small blue circle in the middle of the white band and put spokes inside it.
Draw the flag pole on the left side.
2. The National Bird — the peacock
A simple drawing of a peacock with its tail open. The peacock is the National Bird of India.
Model answer: The peacock is our National Bird. It has a long neck of shining blue and a crown of small feathers on its head. It opens its big tail like a fan and dances when the rains come. The peacock is found in many parts of India.

Why a country has symbols: A symbol is one picture that stands for something big. Our country is very large and has many languages and foods. The flag, the peacock and the tiger belong to all of us, so they remind every Indian that we are one.
Tip for the drawing: Draw with a pencil first and colour afterwards. Keep your drawing inside the orange box, and write your sentences only on the dotted lines below it.
