What are the insects that you find at your home and in your surroundings?

Many insects live very close to us. Here are the ones most children find.

How to be sure it is an insect: Arya tells us the test in the chapter. An insect has three pairs of legs — that is six legs — and one pair of antennae to sense its surroundings. Many insects also have two pairs of wings.
Sample answer: At my home I find ants in the kitchen, houseflies near the dustbin and mosquitoes at night. In our garden I see butterflies on the flowers, honeybees and a grasshopper in the grass.
Tip: A spider is not an insect. Count its legs — it has eight, not six.
