The king weighs 80 kg.
We are told the wheat is 10 times the king. So the king is the wheat shared into 10 equal parts.
Name what we must find. The king's weight.
Write the rule as a picture. King's weight × 10 = wheat donated.
Turn it around. If multiplying by 10 gives the wheat, then dividing the wheat by 10 gives the king.
Divide. 800 kg ÷ 10 = 80 kg.
Going right you multiply by 10. Coming back you divide by 10.
King's weight × 10 = 800 kg King's weight = 800 ÷ 10 King's weight = 80 kg

Last year the king weighed 78 kg.
The rule is the same — the wheat is always 10 times the king.

Wheat last year = 780 kg King's weight last year = 780 ÷ 10 = 78 kg
Why dividing by 10 is easy: When you divide a whole number by 10, you simply take off one zero, or shift every digit one place to the right. 780 → 78. Try it with 640 (→ 64) and 900 (→ 90).

Write the two weights. Last year 78 kg. This year 80 kg.

Another route to the same answer: The extra wheat he gave was 800 − 780 = 20 kg. Since the wheat is 10 times the king, the extra weight of the king is 20 ÷ 10 = 2 kg. Two different roads, one answer — that is a good check.
