Q1.
What makes these things move, shine, make a sound or get warm and cold?
Answer

Energy makes all of them happen. Whether a thing moves, shines, makes a sound, gets hot or gets cold, there is always energy behind it.

The book puts it in one line:

Energy is what makes things move, light up, produce sound, do work and change temperature.

Now match a few everyday things to the energy behind them.

What we seeWhat is happeningWhere the energy comes from
A boy runningMovingThe food he ate
A scooter on the roadMovingPetrol
The Sun at noonGiving light and heatThe Sun itself
A bulb glowingGiving lightElectricity
A dholak being playedMaking soundThe hand that strikes it — that is, food
Water boiling on a stoveGetting hotCooking gas burning
A fridge keeping milk coldGetting coolElectricity
The idea in one sentence: Nothing happens on its own. If something changes — if it starts moving, glows, sounds, warms or cools — energy has been used to make that change.
For your discussion: Ask each other, “If nothing had any energy at all, what would the world be like?” Nothing would move. No sound. No light except… nothing at all, because even the Sun's light is energy. That is why the chapter says energy is what makes our world active and alive.
