Worry shows on the face — the other girl is smiling happily, so she is not worried.

The big field with rows and rows of crops and banana plants
A plantation is a large area where one kind of crop is grown. One single tree is not a plantation.
3. sage
The old man with a long white beard in saffron robes
A sage is a holy, wise man. The other picture shows a vegetable seller at his stall.
4. surprise
The boy with wide-open eyes and an open mouth
An open mouth and raised eyebrows are the signs of surprise. The other boy simply looks sad.
Tip: All four words come back in the story. Rama Natha's wife is worried, the sage is Mahipati, the family grows a banana plantation, and Rama Natha gets a surprise twice — once from the sage's answer and once from the box of gold coins.

This is your own experience, so no two answers will be alike. A good answer names one particular task, says how long you worked at it and what exactly you did — not just “I studied hard”.
Sample answer: Last year I was very weak in multiplication tables. For one whole month I practised for twenty minutes every evening after school. I wrote each table five times, made flash cards from old cardboard, and asked my elder sister to test me every Sunday. Slowly I stopped counting on my fingers.

Say clearly what changed because of the hard work — a result you can measure or point to.
Sample answer: It helped me finish my Maths paper on time. My marks went up from 14 to 23 out of 25, and now I can do shop bills in my head when my mother sends me to buy vegetables. My teacher also asked me to help two classmates with their tables.

How did it make you feel?

Name the feeling and then explain it in one line.
Sample answer: It made me feel proud and confident. The best part was knowing that nobody had given me the marks — I had earned them myself. Now, when a new topic looks difficult, I tell myself that regular practice will beat it, just as it did last time.
Link to the story: Rama Natha felt exactly this at the end of A Bottle of Dew. Once he saw that his own hands had built the plantation, he “worked even harder on his plantation from that day on”.
