Plan the paragraph in four parts, one for each bullet — that is exactly how the marks are given.
- Title — short and about your tree: ‘The Old Peepal at Our Crossing’, ‘My Friend, the Gulmohar’.
- Where it is — one sentence naming the exact place.
- How it looks — three or four sentences on height, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, fruit. Use describing words.
- Why you like it — two or three sentences. This part must be personal, not copied from a book.
The Gulmohar in Our Park
The tree I like best grows just inside the gate of the small park at the end of our street. It is not very tall, but its branches spread out wide like an open umbrella. Its trunk is grey and rough, and its leaves are tiny and feathery, so the sunlight falls through them in little dots. In the month of May the whole tree turns bright red with flowers, and the ground below it looks like a red carpet. I like it because it gives us cool shade in the afternoon, because sparrows and squirrels live in it, and because it is the only tree in our colony that puts on such a beautiful dress every summer. Whenever I feel tired, I sit under it — just as Amber sat under her Neem Baba.
