Speak in the first person — you are the bird, so every sentence begins with ‘I’. Use the five sentence-starters in order; that is your whole speech.
“I am a peacock, the national bird of India. I am blue and green in colour. I am a big bird, and I have a long tail of shining feathers with eye-shaped spots on them. I live in the forest near the fields, close to the village where the trees are thick. During the day I walk about looking for grain and insects, and when the clouds gather I spread my tail and dance. I also call loudly before the rain comes. I want to tell the humans that they should not pull out my feathers or cut down the trees where I sleep at night — I look beautiful only when I am free.”
“I am a house sparrow. I am small and brown, with a short beak and a black patch on my throat. I live in a hole in the wall of an old house, right above a window. All day I hop in the courtyard, pick up grains and tiny insects and chirp with my friends. I want to tell the humans to leave a little water and grain on their balconies, and to keep a few holes and corners in their new buildings, because we are slowly disappearing from the cities.”
