Tip: Two of these are easy to confuse. A plateau is flat on top and steep at the sides; a wetland is flat and low, at or below the level of the water around it.

Why it happens: Each of the six words comes straight out of Shaana's postcards — 'if you blink… you will get lost', 'I never knew such a place existed', 'you won't believe how wild and scary it was', 'Amma and Appa splashed water on each other', 'How amazing that a train can travel across the sea', 'I spent the day floating and looking at the fish'. Matching a word to a new situation is the real test of whether you have understood it.

Tip: The puzzle tells you that the last letter of each word is highlighted, so work backwards from each bold letter — leftwards along its row and upwards along its column. That turns six searches into twelve short ones.
