Answer
| Column 1 | Column 2 | What the picture shows | In Shaana's postcards |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. glaciers | (vi) | A wall of blue-white ice rising above the water | 'The glaciers are white and blue' — Thajiwas, Kashmir |
| 2. treehouse | (i) | A wooden cabin built among the branches of a tree | 'we walked through a forest to reach our treehouse' — Arunachal |
| 3. wetlands | (v) | Flat marshy green land threaded with shallow water | 'places like the Sundarbans are called wetlands' |
| 4. plateaus | (ii) | A flat-topped block of raised land with steep sides | 'you won't believe how nice the plateaus look' — Goa |
| 5. pebbles | (iv) | A spread of small smooth stones at the water's edge | 'We found all sorts of pebbles on the beach' — Olaikaadu |
| 6. rafting | (iii) | People with paddles in an inflatable boat on white water | 'we went rafting in the river' — the Narmada |
Tip: Two of these are easy to confuse. A plateau is flat on top and steep at the sides; a wetland is flat and low, at or below the level of the water around it.
