This is a speaking activity. You do it with the friend sitting next to you.
What to do:
Read Bokali’s words aloud. Your friend reads Darsana’s words aloud.
Now change turns. You read Darsana’s words and your friend reads Bokali’s.
Then talk in your own words about your favourite food and your favourite festival.
Listen when your friend speaks. Do not talk at the same time.
What a good talk has: the name of the food, the name of the festival, and two or three lines about each.
Sample conversation: You: Hello, I am Ravi. My favourite food is idli with coconut chutney. Friend: I like idli too! My favourite food is chhole bhature. You: My favourite festival is Pongal. We cook sweet rice and draw a big kolam. Friend: Mine is Bihu. We dance, sing and eat pitha. You: Our foods and festivals are different, but we are both from Bharat.
What Bokali and Darsana mean: Our country has many traditions, foods, festivals and languages. They are all different. Still we live as one. That is what the word unity means.
