Answer

This paragraph is about your own friend, so only you can fill it in truly. What the book is really teaching here is the use of pronounshe, she, his, her.

What goes in each blank:

The lineWhat to write
My best friend’s name is ____ .your friend’s name
____ is a ____ .He is a boy. / She is a girl.
____ is ____ years old.He / She · the age, usually nine or ten
____ studies in class ____ .He / She · the class, usually 4
There are ____ members in ____ family.a number · his / her
____ hobbies are ____ .His / Her · two or three things he or she likes doing
____ wants to be a ____ .He / She · a doctor, a pilot, a teacher…
When we are together, we ____ .what the two of you do together
____ is my best friend because ____ .He / She · one real reason
Why pronouns are needed here: If you wrote the name again and again — “Ravi is nine. Ravi studies in class 4. Ravi’s hobbies…” — the paragraph would sound dull. A pronoun takes the place of the name and makes writing smooth. Use he/his for a boy and she/her for a girl, and keep the same one all the way through.
Model answer:
My best friend’s name is Meera. She is a girl. She is nine years old. She studies in class 4. There are five members in her family. Her hobbies are reading story books and drawing birds. She wants to be a doctor. When we are together, we play badminton and share our tiffin. She is my best friend because she helps me when I cannot understand a sum.
Tip for the last blank: Give a real reason, not just “because she is nice”. A reason with a small example is always better — “because she waited for me when I hurt my foot”.
