Q1. 1. Write the numbers in a sequence—forward and backward as indicated. c) The truck: the last two boxes show 4892 and 4893.
Answer Eight boxes behind the truck. The last two are filled.Both known numbers are at the end, so count backward from 4892.
4892 – 1 = 4891
4891 – 1 = 4890
… and so on
4886, 4887, 4888, 4889, 4890, 4891, 4892, 4893
All eight boxes filled in.Why it happens: six boxes come before 4892, so we step back six times: 4892 – 6 = 4886.
Q2. 1. Write the numbers in a sequence—forward and backward as indicated. d) The frog and the ladybird: the last two boxes show 8002 and 8003.
Answer Eight boxes before the frog. The last two are filled.Count backward from 8002. Be careful when you cross 8000.
8002 – 1 = 8001
8001 – 1 = 8000
8000 – 1 = 7999
7996, 7997, 7998, 7999, 8000, 8001, 8002, 8003
All eight boxes filled in.Why it happens: just before 8000 all three smaller places are full, so the number is 7999 — seven thousand nine hundred ninety nine.
