Draw the position of the Sun and corresponding shadows in the images given below.The three pictures printed in the book. The Sun and the shadows are missing.
Answer
Draw two things in each picture: where the Sun is, and where the shadow falls.
Morning: draw the Sun low down on one side. Draw a long shadow on the ground, on the other side of the child.
Noon: draw the Sun right at the top, above the child’s head. Draw a short shadow just under the feet.
Evening: draw the Sun low down on the opposite side from the morning. Draw a long shadow again, pointing the other way.

The rule your drawing must follow: the shadow always falls on the side away from the Sun.
Why it happens: The Sun appears to move from the East to overhead till noon, and then gradually moves towards the West in the afternoon. The direction of the shadow changes because of this movement of the Sun.
Tip: Your book’s own tree pictures on page 158 are drawn the same way — Sun on the left in the morning with the shadow to the right, Sun on top at noon, Sun on the right in the evening with the shadow to the left.
