Q1.
It belongs to you. But, your friends use it more than you. What is it?
Answer

The answer is your name.

How the riddle works, line by line:

  1. “It belongs to you.” — Your name is yours. Nobody can take it away.
  2. “But, your friends use it more than you.” — Think about it. How often do you say your own name out loud? Almost never. But your friends, your teacher and your family call you by it all day long — “Arun, come here!”, “Arun, pass the ball!”
Why it is clever: The riddle plays with the word use. We normally think that the owner of a thing uses it most — your bag, your cycle, your tiffin box. A name breaks that rule. It belongs to one person but is spoken by everybody else. That surprise is the joke.
Try one on your friends: “What has hands but cannot clap?” — a clock. “What gets wetter the more it dries?” — a towel. Riddles like these turn one word around and look at it from the other side.
