Why not the square: A square also has four right angles, but a square has all four sides equal. The statement clearly says the sides are not all equal, so the square is out.

Why it fits the rhombus: A rhombus is a “pushed-over square”. Its four sides stay equal, but two of its corners become sharp and two become blunt. So the sides match and the angles do not.
Picture it: Make a square with four sticks joined loosely at the corners, then push one corner sideways. The sides do not change length, but the corners change size. You now have a rhombus.

A word of care: A kite also has two pairs of equal sides, but there the equal sides are next to each other. In a parallelogram and a rhombus the equal sides are opposite each other. The kite is not one of the four shapes given here, so the answer stays as above.
Same answer as statement 3. That happens because a shape with two pairs of equal sides and no right angles is exactly a parallelogram — and a rhombus is a special parallelogram.

Why only the square: The statement asks for two things at once — equal sides and right angles. A rectangle has the right angles but not the equal sides. A rhombus has the equal sides but not the right angles. Only the square has both.

Why all four: This statement is simply the description of a parallelogram — opposite sides equal and opposite angles equal. The square, the rectangle and the rhombus are all special kinds of parallelogram, so all of them obey it.
The widest statement of the seven. It does not pick out one shape at all; it names the whole family.

Why this happens: These four shapes are members of one family. A square is a special rectangle and also a special rhombus, and all four are parallelograms. So a statement that describes the family describes every member of it. Only a statement with a “but” in it — but the sides are not equal, but the angles are not equal — narrows the answer down to one shape.
