Why it happens: 1 rupee = 100 paise, so 1 paisa = 1100 rupee = ₹0.01. The paise are simply the two digits after the decimal point — which is why every price tag has exactly two decimal places.
Tip: 75 paise = 75100 = 710 + 5100 = ₹0.75 — 7 ten-paise coins and 5 single paise.

Discuss with adults at home/school the prices of different products and services during their childhood. Try to find old coins and stamps.

Why it happens: all coins of 25 paise and below were withdrawn in 2011 because they could no longer buy anything. Paise survive today only inside written amounts — bills, bank statements and petrol prices.
Try This: ask an elder what their first salary was and write it in rupees and paise. Then work out how many masala dosas it could have bought in the 1970s, and how many it would buy today.
