Q1.
Name all the divisions between 1 and 1.1 on the number line.
Answer

The gap from 1 to 1.1 is one tenth, and it has been cut into 10 equal parts. Each part is therefore one hundredth.

The nine marks in between are
1.01, 1.02, 1.03, 1.04, 1.05, 1.06, 1.07, 1.08, 1.09
Why it happens: 1 = 1.00 and 1.1 = 1.10. Counting in hundredths from 1.00 to 1.10 gives 1.01, 1.02, … , 1.09 in between — nine marks, because 10 parts have 9 dividing points.
Tip: the arrow in the figure points at the 4th mark, which is 1.04 — one unit, zero tenths and four hundredths.
Q2.
Identify and write the decimal numbers against the letters.

The big marks are tenths (5, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4) and the small marks between them are hundredths.

Why it happens: each small division is 1100 = 0.01. So counting small marks from the nearest labelled tenth gives the hundredths digit directly. A is just short of 5.1, which is why it reads 5.09 and not 5.9.
Q3.
Sonu says that 0.2 can also be written as 0.20, 0.200; Zara thinks that putting zeros on the right side may alter the value of the decimal number. What do you think?

Sonu is right. Zeros added at the right end of a decimal do not change its value.

Why it happens: a zero written after the last digit only says "and no hundredths", "and no thousandths" — it adds nothing. But a zero written before the 2 pushes the 2 into a smaller place, dividing it by 10 each time. That is why 0.2, 0.02 and 0.002 are all different.
Tip: ₹0.2 and ₹0.20 are both 20 paise, but ₹0.02 is only 2 paise.
