Why the poet adds “even when the ground is rocky”: A rocky ground is stony and bumpy. It is hard to run on and the ball does not roll straight. Anant plays there all the same. That one line tells us he is truly active — he does not look for excuses.

Did you know? In the picture on page 67, Anant is running with a curved hockey stick. A goal post stands behind him and the ball is near his stick.

Two musical instruments are mentioned — the guitar and the sitar.

The poem says, “Little boy Lhamo, / proudly plays a guitar, / while his friend joins him with a sitar.”

What “in rhythm” means: Rhythm is a beat that comes again and again. Singing in rhythm means keeping perfect time with that beat — never too fast, never too slow.

Note about the question: The question says “moving in rhythm”, but the poem says Meena is singing in rhythm. Meena is still the right answer, because she is the only child in the poem joined to the word rhythm. Write your answer as: Meena, who sings in rhythm.
