Proudly means doing something while feeling happy about how well you have done it.
The poem uses it: “Little boy Lhamo, / proudly plays a guitar”. Lhamo plays well, and he knows it, so he plays proudly.
Why not Delightful:Delightful also has to do with happiness, but it describes the thing that gives joy, not the person who feels it. A picnic is delightful; a boy plays proudly.

Brave means not afraid. A brave person does the right thing even when it is frightening.
Why brave fits “courageous and bold”: All three words say nearly the same thing. Courageous and bold are simply longer, harder words for brave. When a meaning gives you two words that mean the same, look for the short common word.
Tip:Brave is the only word in the box that is not used anywhere in the poem. The other four all come from the poem or its New Words, so if you are stuck, this is the odd one out.

Rocky
Rocky means covered with rocks, so it is bumpy and uneven. We also use it for a time that is full of troubles.
The poem uses it: “plays the game of hockey, / even when the ground is rocky.”
Why one word has two meanings: A rocky road is hard to walk on. So people began to use rocky for anything hard to get through — “a rocky start”, “a rocky year”. The picture of the stony path stays behind the word.
Tip:Rocky is also the rhyming partner of hockey, which you wrote in part C.

Delightful means something that gives you great pleasure. A delightful thing makes you smile the moment you see it, hear it or taste it.
How the word is built:Delight means great joy. Add ‑ful and it means “full of delight”. You already know other words built this way — cheerful, helpful, colourful.
Tip:Delightful is used for things and for events, not usually for a person’s action. Say “a delightful song”, but say “she sang proudly”.

Mistakes are things you did the wrong way without meaning to.
The poem uses it: “practices on her skates, / and learns daily from her mistakes.”
Why this word matters most in the chapter: Geeta does not hide her mistakes. She looks at them and learns from them. That is how a fit mind grows — a mistake is the thing that teaches you.
Did you know?Mistakes is a New Word on page 68, and its rhyming partner in part C is skates.
