Q1.
D. Fill in the blanks.
1. Ravi came ........................ with ........................ dripping down his face.
Answer

Ravi came running with sweat dripping down his face.

The sentence is taken straight from Part II of the story, on page 77.

Why the two words go there: Running tells us how he came. Sweat is the salty water that comes out of our skin when we work hard or run fast. Ravi had been running up and down the field, so his face was wet with sweat.
Your own sentence: Anu came running with sweat dripping down her face after the race.
Q2.
D. Fill in the blanks.
2. ........................ is the captain of Sundarpur Tigers.
Answer

Deepa is the captain of Sundarpur Tigers.

Guneet tells Prakash, “our Lagori team is called by the name of Sundarpur Tigers and our friend Deepa is our captain.”

Why she was made captain: Ravi answers that at once — “No doubt! She runs fast!” In this match it was Deepa who took the first shot and knocked the whole pile down.
Q3.
D. Fill in the blanks.
3. The Lagori match reminded everyone of the simple joys of ........................ and ........................ .
Answer

The Lagori match reminded everyone of the simple joys of togetherness and teamwork.

The last line of the story is: “The Lagori match had brought the villagers together, reminding everyone of the simple joys of teamwork.” The two blanks come from those two words.

What the two words mean here: Togetherness is the good feeling of being with everybody — the whole village came and watched. Teamwork is doing a job as one team — six children putting back seven stones.
Note about this blank: The book’s own sentence names only one word, teamwork, so the second word has to be taken from “brought the villagers together”. playing together and teamwork is also an acceptable answer. Write the pair your teacher has used in class.
