Q1. a) If he has 60 kg of rice, how many sacks does he need? 60 ÷ 10 = _______
Answer Each sack holds 10 kg.
60 = 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10 + 10
60 ÷ 10 = 6 sacks
Why it happens: Sixty is six tens, so six sacks of ten kilograms hold it all.
Q2. b) If he has 600 kg of rice, how many sacks does he need? 600 ÷ 10 = _______
Answer 600 = 60 Tens
600 ÷ 10 = 60 sacks
Ten times more rice needs ten times more sacks: 6 becomes 60.
Why it happens: Dividing by 10 asks how many tens there are. Six hundred is sixty tens.
Q3. If a sack of rice weighs 100 kg then how many sacks does he need for 600 kg of rice? ____ 600 ÷ 100 = _______
Answer 600 = 6 Hundreds
600 ÷ 100 = 6 sacks
Bigger sacks, fewer sacks — 60 sacks of 10 kg become just 6 sacks of 100 kg.
Why it happens: Each 100 kg sack does the work of ten 10 kg sacks, so we need ten times fewer of them.
