Way 2 — the table — is easier to understand.
In Way 1 the letters are mixed up. To answer even one question you must count all 45 letters again.
In Way 2 each subject has its own row with one number beside it. You just read the numbers and compare them.
Why it happens: A table has already done the counting for us and has put like with like. Sorted data is faster to read than raw data.
Tip: Way 1 is still useful — it is how you write the answers down while you collect them. The table comes afterwards.
