Tick the question that is the most appropriate for finding the ‘most liked subject’? Why do you think so? Discuss with your friends and teacher.

The two questions the children asked, with a few of the answers they got.
Tick Anjali’s question — “Which subject do you like the most?”
Look at what each question brings back.
Rohan’s question lets a child name many subjects. One child said three subjects, another said two.
Anjali’s question lets a child name only one subject — the favourite one.
45 children, Rohan’s way → more than 45 answers 45 children, Anjali’s way → exactly 45 answers
Why it happens: To find the most liked subject we must count one vote from each child. Only Anjali’s question gives one vote per child, so the counts can be compared fairly.
Tip: Before you collect data, always check that your question has only one answer. That is the first step of data handling.
