Count each pack and write the number in its triangle.

Count a pack by rows of two. For Shirley’s longest pack: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and then one more coin alone, which makes 17.
Why it happens: Both children put their coins two in a row. Shiv’s packs always end with a full row of two. Shirley’s packs always end with one coin sitting alone.
Did you know? Shirley has 3 + 11 + 17 + 1 + 7 + 5 = 44 coins, and Shiv has 4 + 14 + 12 + 6 + 8 = 44 coins. They have exactly the same number of coins, arranged in two different ways.
