Why it happens: every 4-digit number is bigger than every 3-digit number, because it has at least one thousand.

2. Order the prices of the following objects from smallest to biggest (increasing order). ₹1986 (gas stove), ₹1099 (pan), ₹1899 (electric cooker)

All three prices have 1 in the Thousands place, so look at the Hundreds place: 0, 8 and 9.

Increasing order: ₹1099 (pan), ₹1899 (cooker), ₹1986 (gas stove)

Why it happens: the Thousands digits are equal, so the Hundreds place decides all three at once — we never need to look further right.
