Q1.
Sevi and Shami divided a piece of chikki between themselves. Sevi ate 1/3 and Shami ate the rest, that is, 2/3. Who ate more?
Answer
Shami ate more.
Sevi ate 1 piece of 1/3 Shami ate 2 pieces of 1/3 2 pieces > 1 piece, so 2/3 > 1/3
Same chikki, same size of piece — so just count the pieces.
Why it happens: The chikki was cut into 3 equal pieces, so every piece is the same size. When the pieces are the same size, whoever has more pieces has more chikki. The bottom numbers are the same, so we only need to look at the top numbers: 2 > 1.
The rule: When two fractions have the same denominator (the same bottom number), the one with the bigger numerator (top number) is bigger.

Careful: This shortcut works only when the bottom numbers are the same. For 3/8 and 3/7 you cannot compare the tops — that is the next section.
