Measure the lines in the design and write their measurements in cm and mm.
The design printed on page 61 — the small boxes are for writing the measurement of the line beside each of them.
Answer
This one you must measure in your own book with your own ruler. Here is how, and then the measurements we got so you can check yourself.
Put the 0 mark of the ruler exactly on one corner of the line. Not the edge of the plastic — find the printed 0.
Turn the ruler so it lies along the line, even if the line is slanting. Hold the book steady.
Read the last full centimetre the other corner has crossed.
Count the small marks after it. Each one is 1 mm.
Write it as cm and mm, for example 6 cm 8 mm. Then write the same thing in mm: 68 mm.
Write your answer in the small box printed beside that line.

If your answer is 1 mm different, do not worry. Where exactly you put the ruler, and how the page is printed, can shift a reading by a millimetre. What matters is that you read the centimetre and the millimetre part, and write both.
Why we write cm and mm together: Saying "about 7 cm" throws away useful information. Saying "6 cm 8 mm" tells the exact length. And 6 cm 8 mm can also be written as 68 mm — same length, one unit instead of two.
