Q1.
Describe how your friendship with your friend started. • First list the answers for — When? Where? How? • Then, use your sentences to write a short paragraph of about 80 words. • Give a title to your paragraph.
Answer

Step 1 — list the three answers before you write anything.

QuestionMy notes
When?On the first day of Class 4, in June
Where? In the school ground, near the water tap
How?I had forgotten my water bottle; she offered me hers

Step 2 — join the notes into a paragraph of about 80 words. Step 3 — give it a title.

Sample answer:

A Bottle of Water

My friendship with Ritu began on the very first day of Class 4, in the month of June. It was a hot afternoon and I had left my water bottle at home. I was standing near the tap in the school ground, waiting for my turn, when a girl I did not know held out her bottle and said, “Drink from mine.” That small kindness became a friendship. Three years later, we still share everything — bottles, tiffins and secrets.

Why the title matters: A good title names the one thing the paragraph turns on — here, the bottle of water. ‘My Friend’ would be a weak title, because it could sit on top of anybody's paragraph.
