Find the companion. Link the following words by putting arrows between words that have a connection. (Iron, Transparent, Copper, Solid, Bottle, Plastic, Lustrous, Wood, Opaque, Glass)

Draw an arrow wherever one word is a property of the other, or one is an example of the other. Here are all the correct links:

Glass → Transparent	We can see clearly through glass
Glass → Bottle	Bottles are made of glass

How to check an arrow: read it aloud as a sentence. “Glass is transparent” — correct. “Wood is lustrous” — wrong, so no arrow. If the sentence sounds false, rub the arrow out.

Win the ‘Word-hub’. The following words from the chapter like lustrous, non-lustrous, soluble, insoluble, hard, soft, matter, mass, transparent, opaque, volume and translucent are picked up. Students should randomly choose nine words from the given list and write them in the grid. Then, the facilitator either reads the definition of a word or the word itself (randomly) from the given list. The learners have to tick if the particular word is there in the grid. Whoever finishes ticking off all nine words first will shout out ‘Hurray!’

How to play: the grid has nine boxes (3 rows × 3 columns). Choose any nine of the twelve words and write one in each box. Tick a word when the facilitator reads either that word or its definition. The first player to tick all nine correctly shouts ‘Hurray!’ and wins.
