Why the three middle paragraphs go in this order: First say who you are (introduction), then what you want and why (expression of interest), then ask (statement of request). A formal letter never opens with the request — the reader must first know who is asking.
Tip: Match “Yours sincerely” with a named or specific person and “Yours faithfully” with “Dear Sir/Madam”. Here the writer is addressing her own Principal, so “Yours sincerely” is right.
Q2.
2. Write a letter to the Principal of your school requesting her to organise an excursion to a nearby hill station for Grade 7 students of your school.
Answer

Use exactly the ten components you have just identified. Keep it to three short paragraphs — introduction, expression of interest with reasons, and the request.

The Principal
Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector 8
Rohini, New Delhi – 110085

Subject: Request to organise an excursion to a nearby hill station for Grade 7

Madam,

I am Aarav Sharma, the class representative of Grade 7-B. I am writing on behalf of all the students of Grade 7.

We have just finished the unit Travel and Adventure in our English textbook, and it has made us eager to see for ourselves the kind of hill country and railway tunnels we have been reading about. An excursion to Nainital or to Kasauli, both within a day's journey of Delhi, would let us do a short guided trek, visit a lake and study the plants and birds we have learnt about in Science. Such a trip would also teach us to travel as a group, manage our own luggage and follow safety instructions.

I therefore request you to kindly consider organising a two-day excursion for Grade 7 in the coming winter break, with our class teachers accompanying us. We shall obtain written permission from our parents and follow every instruction given by the school.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours sincerely,
Aarav Sharma
Grade 7-B
What makes this letter work: It gives reasons (learning, not just enjoyment), it names places that are actually nearby, it anticipates the Principal's worries by promising parental permission and supervision, and it keeps a polite, formal tone throughout. Never write “please, please allow us” — a formal request is made once, clearly.
