Since the Earth is rotating, shouldn't the stars also appear to move in the sky like the Sun?
Answer

Yes, indeed — and they do. The Earth's rotation makes every object in the sky appear to move, not just the Sun.

Watch the Big Dipper (Saptarishi) on any clear night. Sketch its position at 7 pm and again at 9 pm and 11 pm as in Activity 12.3, and you will find it has swung across the northern sky. Over the whole night it seems to travel in a big arc around the Pole Star (Dhruva Tara).

Why the Pole Star seems fixed: the Earth's axis of rotation points very close to the Pole Star. A point straight along the axis does not appear to move as the Earth spins — so the Pole Star stays almost still while all other stars appear to wheel around it.
Did you know? Astrophotographers keep a camera's shutter open for hours and the moving stars record themselves as star trails — beautiful arcs of circles all centred on the Pole Star. That photograph is a direct picture of the Earth's rotation.
