Base — the flat block the whole model stands on.
Pillars — the two tall blocks on the sides.
Arch or door — the gap left between the two pillars.
Roof — the long block lying across the top.

model needs only those big parts to look like it.

It is different in size, in material and in the small details.
The real building is very big; my model is small enough to hold.
The real one is of stone and bricks; mine is of wooden blocks.
The carving, the windows and the colours of the real building are missing.
The corners of my model are sharp and plain, not rounded and carved.
Why it happens: Blocks come in a few simple shapes only, so
fine details cannot be copied.

Discussion: What would happen if you removed one piece of your model? Would the model still look like the original building? In what ways could you make the model even better?

Answer
It depends on which piece you take out.
Take out a pillar — the roof block falls. The model does not stand at all.
Take out the small top block — the model still stands, but it looks flat on top.
Take out the base — the model wobbles and leans.
So: if a piece that carries weight is removed, the model no longer looks like
the building. If only a small top piece is removed, it still looks somewhat like it.
To make it better: use blocks of the right size for each part,
keep the two pillars equal, add a curved block for the arch, and paint it the colour
of the real building.
Why it happens: The bottom pieces hold up everything above
them, so they matter more than the pieces on top.
