Bholu, now you have to draw the objects in the grid by following my clues. Draw the ball at the bottom left corner.Bholu’s grid, still empty. The rows are counted from the bottom and the columns from the left.

The bottom left corner box is Row 1 and Column 1.
The rows are counted from the bottom: Row 1, Row 2, Row 3.
The columns are counted from the left: Column 1, Column 2, Column 3.
Bottom → Row 1. Left → Column 1.
So the ball goes in Row 1, Column 1.
Why it happens: A box in a grid needs two names — its row and its column. Together they point at one box and no other.

Here are the clues given by Rani to fill the grid: • An eraser at the top right corner. • A pencil in the top left corner. • An apple in the middle of the second row and second column. • A water bottle in the third row and second column.Bholu’s grid. Right → Column 3. Left → Column 1.
So Row 3 becomes full: pencil, water bottle, eraser.
The ball stays in Row 1, Column 1, and the apple sits alone in Row 2.
Why it happens: “Top” and “bottom” tell us the row; “left” and “right” tell us the column. Once both are known the box is fixed.
Try this: Draw a 3 by 3 grid on the floor with chalk. Give your friend clues and let him place stones on it.
