Draw a sight map to show the way from your school entrance to your classroom and any other important places.
Answer
A sample sight map: the way from the main gate to the classroom, with other important places marked.
This is your project work. Make your own map like this.
Stand at your school gate and look around. Note what you pass on the way to your class.
Draw the boundary of the school as a big rectangle on your page.
Mark the main gate on the boundary.
Draw each building as a plain rectangle, seen from the top. Do not draw doors and windows.
Write the name inside each rectangle — office, library, playground, toilets, your classroom.
Now draw the path you walk, from the gate to your class, with a coloured pencil. Put an arrow on it.
What a good map should have:
every place drawn as seen from the top;
the places in the right positions — left stays left and right stays right;
a clear name on each place;
one coloured line showing the way you walk.
Why it happens: A sight map is drawn from above, so it shows where things are with respect to one another. Another child can then use your map to find your classroom without asking anybody.
Tip: Your map need not be beautiful. It must only be correct — the places must be in the right order along the way.
