To reach 60, how many times did the frog jump? _______ How many times did the rabbit jump to reach the same number? __________ What do you observe? Share your thoughts.

The frog’s path. The frog starts at 0 and lands on every third number.The rabbit’s path. It starts at 0 and lands on every sixth number.
Frog jumps 3 at a time: 3, 6, 9, … , 57, 60 60 = 20 threes, so the frog jumped 20 times.
Rabbit jumps 6 at a time: 6, 12, 18, … , 54, 60 60 = 10 sixes, so the rabbit jumped 10 times.
We observe that the rabbit needs exactly half as many jumps as the frog.
Why it happens: One rabbit jump of 6 is the same as two frog jumps of 3. So the rabbit finishes in half the number of jumps.
