NCERT Solutions for Class 4th Maths Chapter 9 Equal Groups
Updated on 2026-09-19
About this chapter
Skip counting along a path gives the multiples of a number; numbers on two animals’ paths are common multiples . Things set in equal rows and columns make an array , and an array is a picture of a multiplication statement. In 12 × 3 = 36, 12 is the number of groups (multiplier), 3 is the group size (multiplicand) and 36 is the product. To multiply a big number, split it into hundreds, tens and ones, multiply each part and add: 125 × 8 = 800 + 160 + 40 = 1000. Ten-times and hundred-times just add zeros: 6 × 8 = 48, so 60 × 8 = 480 and 600 × 8 = 4800. Division is taking away equal groups until nothing (or only a small remainder) is left, as in 58 ÷ 3 = 19 with 1 wheel left over.
