Heavy things are weighed in kilograms (kg) and light things in grams (g). 1 kg = 1000 g. On a pan balance the heavier pan goes down and the lighter pan goes up. Equal weights keep it level. 500 g is half of 1 kg, 250 g is one-fourth of 1 kg, and ten packets of 100 g make 1 kg. How much a container holds is its capacity. We measure it in litres (l) and millilitres (ml). 1 l = 1000 ml. Two 500 ml, four 250 ml, ten 100 ml or a hundred 10 ml bottles each fill one 1 l bottle. Milk is measured with cans of 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 ml. Even one slow drip from a tap wastes litres of water.
