Here the steps are not all ten-times. The share grows exactly as much as the amount grows.

150 is 10 times 15, so 50 is 10 times 5.
300 is 2 times 150, so 100 is 2 times 50.
20 is 5 times 4, so 10 is 5 times 2.
100 is 5 times 20, so 50 is 5 times 10.
Note: In the first group the book jumps 15 → 150 → 300, not 15 → 150 → 1500. So the last step doubles instead of being ten times. In the second group the jumps are five times each. Read the numbers carefully before you guess.
Q6.
A load carrying truck has 6 tyres. Chippi the lizard sees 60 tyres. How many trucks are there?
Answer

There are 10 trucks.

60 ÷ 6
6 × 10 = 60
So 60 ÷ 6 = 10 trucks
Why it happens: Each truck takes away one group of 6 tyres. Ten such groups make 60.
Q7.
Chippi sees 80 wheels in a car parking space. How many cars are standing in the parking space?
Answer

There are 20 cars.

A car has 4 wheels, so we find 80 ÷ 4.
8 ÷ 4 = 2, so 80 ÷ 4 = 20
Check: 20 × 4 = 80 ✓
Tip: 10 cars have 40 wheels. 80 wheels are twice as many, so there are twice as many cars.
Q8.
Chippi sees 600 legs of ants walking towards the anthill. How many ants are there?
Answer

There are 100 ants.

An ant has 6 legs, so we find 600 ÷ 6.
6 ÷ 6 = 1, so 600 ÷ 6 = 100
Check: 100 × 6 = 600 ✓
Why it happens: 600 is a hundred times 6, so the number of ants is a hundred times the 1 ant that has 6 legs.
Q9.
A fancy shop has packed 800 rubber bands in several packets. Each packet has 4 rubber bands. How many packets of rubber bands does the shop have?
Answer

The shop has 200 packets.

800 ÷ 4
8 ÷ 4 = 2, so 800 ÷ 4 = 200
Check: 200 × 4 = 800 ✓
Check it yourself: 100 packets hold 400 bands. 800 bands need twice as many packets, so 200.
