Q1.
Think about your family or community. How do you work together to help each other while preparing for a festival or any other occasion?
Answer

Do this:

  1. Choose one festival or occasion that your family gets ready for.
  2. Make a list of all the jobs that have to be done before the day.
  3. Write who does each job, and what you yourself do.
  4. End with one line about how you feel when the work is shared.

What a good answer shows: that the work was divided, and that each person did the part they do best — exactly as in the chapter, where groups were formed for cleaning, planting saplings, watering and cooking.

Sample answer: My family gets ready for Diwali together. My grandmother makes the sweets, because she knows the old recipes. My mother and my aunt clean the whole house. My father brings the diyas, the colours and the new clothes. My sister and I make the rangoli at the door and hang up the lights. In the evening we all do the puja together, and then we take a plate of sweets to our neighbours. Because each one of us takes one job, the work finishes early and we still have time to play.

Why sharing works: When the work is shared, it becomes lighter and it also becomes fun. In the chapter, everyone worked together and helped each other — and then sat down to a community feast with jokes and laughter.
Did you know? After the feast the banana leaves were buried in a pit. Leaves buried in a pit become manure and improve the soil quality, so nothing is wasted.
