Completed table:

Methods of cookingFood
SteamingIdiyappam, idli
BoilingRice, sambhar, kheer
RoastingDosa (on a tawa), papad, peda (the khoya is roasted first)
FryingSamosa, gulab jamun
GrillingAdd your own: grilled paneer, grilled corn
BakingAdd your own: cake, biscuits, bread
Why it happens: Each method uses heat in a different way — boiling uses hot water, steaming uses the steam above it, frying uses hot oil, and baking and grilling use dry hot air or fire.
Check it yourself: Some foods can be cooked in more than one way. Papad can be roasted or fried, and a dosa can be made with very little oil or with more. Ask at home how it is done in your kitchen and write that answer.
Tip: No food in the printed list is grilled or baked, so the book asks you to add more items yourself. That is why the table has empty rows.
