Q1.
Look at Fig. 6.5. Identify and label the nature of materials used by Ghulan (A), Sheeta (B), Sara (C) and Sheeta’s brother (D). (A) ________ (B) ________ (C) ________ (D) ________ .
Answer
Read each hiding place off the picture and name the property:
(A) Ghulan — behind the brick wall → Opaque
(B) Sheeta — behind the tree trunk → Opaque
(C) Sara — behind the frosted glass door → Translucent
(D) Sheeta’s brother — at the glass window → Transparent
So the answer line reads: (A) Opaque (B) Opaque (C) Translucent (D) Transparent.
The three kinds of materials in Fig. 6.5: light from the lamp reaches the eye fully, partly, or not at all.
How to decide which is which: hold the material over a line of print in your book. If you can read the letters — transparent. If you can see that something is there but the letters are blurred — translucent. If you see nothing at all — opaque.
