Navya and Dada ji come home by bus and look closely at their neighbourhood. Long ago people sent news by drumbeats, messengers and pigeons. Then came the postal service, the telephone, radio and television. Today we use mobile phones and the internet. The post office collects letters from the postbox, sorts them region by region and sends them on. Flyovers and metro trains make travel faster, but the animals, birds and trees that lived there are lost. Planting trees keeps a balance. A bank keeps our money safe and helps us save for the future. An ATM gives us cash at any time. Public places like hospitals, banks, post offices, police stations, libraries and bus stations serve everyone. On a map, north is at the top, south at the bottom, east on the right and west on the left.
